Here’s what I’m planing to grow this year at Rake and Radish Farm.
Don’t see your favourite vegetable on the list? It’s likely trickier to grow but let me know and I might be able to add it to the repertoire next season.
Vegetables:
- Arugula
- Beans (bush and pole)
- Beets
- Carrots
- Chard
- Cherry tomatoes
- Corn
- Cucumbers
- Kale
- Lettuce
- Mustard greens
- Radishes
- Salad Mix
- Scallions (green onions)
- Snap Peas
- Tomatoes
- Turnips
- Pattypan
- Pie Pumpkins
- Winter squash (acorn, delicata, butternut, spaghetti)
- Zucchini
This year I’m also trialing agretti (saltwort), cantaloupe and cauliflower. They likely won’t make an appearance in the boxes this season but if they do well, we all may be in for a treat!
The other maybe is potatoes if I can find a way to fit them into my very squishy crop plan, so stay tuned on that!
Fruit:
- Strawberries
- Plums
Herbs:
- Basil
- Cilantro
- Huacatay (Peruvian Black Mint)
- Parsley
- Shiso
Flowers:
- Asters
- Cornflowers
- Cosmos
- Dahlias
- Feverfew
- Gomphrena
- Marigolds
- Scabiosa
- Snapdragons
- Statice
- Strawflowers
- Sunflowers
- Yarrow
- Zinnias
Farming is an ever challenging occupation and crop failure is an unfortunate reality. So while hopefully all of these crops will make an appearance in the CSA boxes and flower shares, there’s always the possibility that some varieties won’t make it.
